misterfootballfanatic.blogspot.com continues it's winning ways by going 0-2 ATS in the first games played last weekend, but went an astounding 2-0 ATS in both late games and they were both DOUBLE DOWN Plays! This basically means 4-2 ATS when factoring in the strength of the plays (I won both days by doubling down on the second games). On to today's first match up, the AFC Conference Championship game between Indy and the Jets.
Take the Jets +9 at Indy. When the Jets were playing the undefeated Colts in week 16, they were only down 5 points in the third quarter when the Coach Caldwell pulled the starters. The Jets went on to win 29-15 and that win propelled them into the playoffs. Be careful what you wish for Colts fans. The Jets are 8-2 ATS the last 10 games they were an underdog. The Jets have allowed an average of 9.4 points in their last 8 games. Last week's game not withstanding, the Colts defense has trouble against the run, in the bottom half of the league. Running the ball is what the Jets do. DB Revis for the Jets will make Reggie Wayne a non-factor. I expect the Jets to double Dallas Clark and use some exotic blitzes. Since Indy will not be able to run on the Jets defense, Pierre Garcon and/or Austin Collie at WR will have to be the guys Manning targets. Prediction Indy 24, Jets 16.
Also, I'm adding INDY/NYJ UNDER 40.5. The Jets defense will at least slow down the Colts offense and the Jets offense will run, alot - tick clock tick.

Okay, Dallas kept shooting theirselves in the foot and didn't challenge the probable Favre fumble deep in Dallas' territory when it was still only 17-3, and got killed even though yards gained by each team was about the same.

misterfootballfanatic.blogspot.com is convinced the right side was given in the BCS Championship Game, Texas +4.5. QB Colt McCoy got hurt on Texas' fifth play. Freshman QB Gilbert was not ready and Texas had to change their play calling, and they still cut the lead to three (24-21) with three minutes to go in the game. Then, one of the announcers says "As good as Alabama's defense is, they have not recorded a sack in this game". You guessed it, the next snap, they get to Gilbert and he fumbles, setting up Alabama at the three yard line. They scored a td two plays later, then added one after a deperation pick by Gilbert after that (when they should have been kneeling). Not to mention the lead going from 17-6 to 24-6 on an interception by Gilbert with seconds to go before halftime. This my friends, is what you call a Bad Beat! On to today's NFL Wildcard selections.
Take NYJ/CIN OVER 33.5. Everyone loves the Jets, so I'm nervous about that, I kinda like Cincy, but don't trust them either. It doesn't take much to go over 33.5 (the Jets went over that by themselves last week against Cincy). Prediction Cincy 20, Jets 17.

Sorry readers. misterfootballfanatic.blogspot.com was uncomfortable with the NFL Sunday selections due to meaningless games, some teams playing starters, some not, etc. I posted what seemed like good under plays, but went 0-2 ATS, they both barely went over (Cleveland gave up a late td to JAX to go over by 3). Take CLE/JAX UNDER 36. It's windy and cold and both QB's are not good. Of Cleveland's last 12 week 17 games, 9 went under. Prediction Cleveland 17. Jax 14.
Take INDY/BUFF UNDER 33. It's windy and cold and INDY's starters will not play. The UNDER play when these teams meet in Buffalo is 8-3 the last 11. Prediction Buff 13, NE 10.

Right now, I'm leaning towards Michigan State + 7 in the Alamo Bowl against TT, because of the coaching situation, but the game is being played in San Antonio Texas. I may post something on this game later today (it starts at 8:00 CST). I want to see how the other games go and if I have a better feel for that game as kickoff approaches.

Didn't make a selection on either of the noon cst starts since the line on LSU +3 had moved to LSU -1. I liked LSU until seeing that. Right now, roughly 2:15 cst, Penn State is up 13-3.
